Your trip will start with a 3-4 hour morning horseback ride originating from the onsite Rockin’ M stables. Upon finishing your morning horseback adventure you will enjoy a delicious riverside lunch while your guide makes the transition from the horses to the river. The afternoon will be spent fly fishing on the Salt River from a drift boat. All equipment, lunch, and drinks are provided for the horseback/fly fishing adventure. Your guide will give you a fly fishing/horseback riding lesson for those new to the sport.

Join us for either a half day (4 to 6 hrs) or full day (6 to 8+ hrs) trip on the Salt River which flows through the middle of Star Valley Wyoming. The nature of the Salt makes it an outstanding dry fly river, so much so, that most of our clients fish only dry flies! If your a streamer junkie or just like to fish indicators and nymphs, we can do that to. We catch mostly fine spotted Snake River Cutthroats with a mix of browns, rainbows, brookies and the occasional white fish thrown in for good measure. All of our trips are run out of well maintained and equipped drift boats.

Our typical trip starts at the shop in Alpine where you will meet your guide for the day. We get you set up with Wyoming Fishing Licenses and any last minute personal items and then it's off to the river. Each day is unique, and each section of the river fishes a bit different every day, so if you are wondering which section you will be on, we probably don't know until the day of your trip. This flexibility allows us to cater each trip to your wants and desires.

All trips include rods and reels from Orvis, Sage, Echo and Redington, flies, leaders and odds and ends for the day. Our half day trips include snacks and beverages and the full day trips include a hearty lunch to keep you fueled. If you have ever wanted to try a speciality rod such as fiberglass, bamboo or Tenkara, let us know and we will make it happen.

Our trips are appropriate for all ages and abilities. Our goal is to have fun, catch fish and make memories that last a lifetime.

Guide: Byron
Favorite Fly: The one tied on
Favorite Time to Fish: 24/7

Byron comes to us by way of western New York where he developed his love of
hockey, both as a spectator and player.  He started his guiding career in southern Oregon, and like the steelhead he chased, he ultimately swan upstream and beached in the Alpine area. When not guiding or trying to find new water to fish, his main focus is trying to be the perfect husband. (it's really not as sweet as it sounds, it's truly self serving so he can remain a guide the rest of the year) Byron started guiding for Pioneer Anglers during the summer of 2017 and is back again this year.
